Ashley (Britt Robertson) is fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a dancer on Broadway in Jingle Bells, but she is suddenly dumped by a younger, more energetic talent. A few weeks before Christmas, Ashley decides to visit her parents in their hometown of Sycamore Creek, where she soon learns that in just a few weeks, her parents will lose The Rhythm Room, a performance venue and bar that they have owned for Ashley’s entire life. you can stream this movie on Flixtor movie.
Determined to not let her parents lose their dreams just as they lost theirs, Ashley decides to stage an all-male Christmas revue to boost sales. To do this, she recruits several men from the area, including handyman Luke (Chad Michael Murray).
I’ll get straight to the point: this movie is terrible, and I loved it. I giggled, gasped, and smiled the whole time. Did I anticipate every single conversation or plot point miles ahead of time? Absolutely. Was this movie basically just throwing clichés and tropes at the wall in hopes that Chad Michael Murray’s jawline would be such a distraction that no one would notice? That’s who he was, and that’s who he was. This production knows exactly what it is and doesn’t pretend to be anything else. It’s cheesy, it’s cliché, it’s silly, and that’s all it needs to be.
Now, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the obvious: the giant wig on Britt Robertson’s head. I kept staring at her, trying to understand how a professional hair artist managed to bring her into this world. Perhaps someone had a grudge against Robertson, or maybe they ran out of money for production because they had to buy up Christmas lights and make do with what they could find at the local dollar store. It’s a mystery that will haunt me until the end of time. The fact that Robertson is a terrible actor doesn’t help either, so maybe a bad wig is the way to go.
The rest of the acting is terrible as well, but that’s a common problem in this genre. The exception is Chad Michael Murray, who is a much better actor than everyone else. None of the characters have much to offer in terms of personality, backstory or motivation, but that’s to be expected in this genre. The gist of the movie is a few sexy guys dancing shirtless, followed by a traditionally attractive couple kissing in front of a Christmas tree. Not much, but that’s exactly what you get.
